Resyme in english

SHORT RESYME’ OF OUR TRIP FOR OUR ENGLISH-SPEAKING FRIENDS
We started from Uskedalen 17.06 together with our sisterboat IDA from Rosendal. The voyage across to Inverness in Scotland tok about 52 hours, and we had good weather conditions. From Inverness there’s a famous canal running thru Loch Ness and ending in Fort William on the west coast, The Caledonian Canal. This was our third time here, but even so an adventure. We met several boats coming back from the Carribien. We talked to some of these people and got good advice for our coming trip.
Next stop was Oban, then the Giga Isle just north of Mull of Kintyre. Here we had a good sail with lots of tide with us, and Fatuhiva was logging 14 knots several times. Further on we stayed a few days in Portpatrick, a really picturesque village that we will recommend to everyone! From here we crossed over to Nothern Ireland and strait Howth, just north of Dublin. This was a really "posh" place with a beautiful marina. Dublin is very interesting, and we most certainly took a visit at the famous Guinnes Brewery. My interest for beer has always been strong! Our daughter, Marte, and Mette’s sister Anne took a plane home. Åsmund, our eldest son, had "jumped off" on the Scottish side.
We then stopped in Arklow and Kilmore Key, crossed over the Irish Sea to Penzance and then had a long breake in Falmouth. The summer arrived, and both these places were very nice. Some friends of ours, Nina and Per Solberg, came onboard as crew here, and they were very good company for almost 3 weeks.
16.07 Fatuhiva and Ida set course for Audierne, also a picturesque village, this time south of Brest in Brittany, France. Already late the next day we decided to sail across Biscay to La Coruna in north west Spain. It was a long stretch, but took us only 52 hours due to some quitye strong winds the last 20 hours. The wind speed was up to 37 knots and the waves rather steep.
La Coruna was a marvellous city, and the Spanish women were more good-looking than I had anticipated. There’s nothing more to say other than a warm recommodation! Further south, we visited Camarinas, Pueblo de Caraminal, Villagarcia, Santiago de Compostella(by train), Bayona and Islas Cies. The last to places were wonderful. Those island reminded of the coming Carribien. Per and Nina left us in Villagarcia, and from there on we’ve been "double handed".
We’ve had many stops in Portugal starting with Vianna do Castello, Povoa Varzim,Aveiro, Figueira da Foz, Porto, Nazare, Peniche, Cascais, Lisboa, Sesimbra and now Sines. Portugal has been very nice and interesting. More people speak English here, and that certainly helps. Porto was very special, Lisboa more modern and sophisticated. There has been a lot of fires here, and somedays has the whole coastline been covered by smoke. Too bad!
Travelling like this, we meet an awful lot of interesting and nice people in the marinas. Since we’re all out of jobs, we have plenty of time to chat and exchange ideas and wievs. Very social, we eat and drink together all the time. Sadly, our friends in Ida left us in Nazare. They had decided to put their boat up for the winter and take it into the Mediteranian next summer.
After having been here in the nice place of Sines for 8 days, we will tomorrow head for Lagos on the Algarve coast. Our two sons, Åsmund and Vegard + Tone (Åsmund girlfriend) will join us there for a week. Vegard might come with us to Madeira. We’ll cross our sometimes in the first half of September. Then around 1. of October to the Canary Islands.
On the 20. November we’ll start in the ARC-rally towards St. Lucia , Carribia.
Best greetings from us in FATUHIVA
