English version of letter 11.

ENGLISH VERSION OF LETTER 11, ALGARVE TO PORTO SANTO
Hello again friends. We hope that Eunice, Norman and the rest will have another nice trip to Norway. We’ll cross our fingers that the weather will show it’s best side so that everyone can fully enjoy the scenery.
Also, we look very much forward to meet Mary Ellen and Susan at some convenient spot in the West Indies.
Right now we’re at the tiny island of Porto Santo( neighbour to Madeira). We sailed 450 nautical miles ( a 1852 meters for those who did’nt know) from Portimao in Portugal. We arrived here on Thursday 8th. after 72 hours, which gives an average speed of 6 knots. I am satisfied. Very easy sailing, lots of dolphins, some fishing for dinner!
Like Madeira, Porto Santo is a vulcanic island, the Atlantic is about 4000 meters deep all around! There’s a long, beautiful beach here, very pleasant temperatures both in in air and water. We just had a sight-seeing tour around the island in an open coach. The whole island just in two hours!!
On Monday we’ll cross over to Madeira. There we’ll rent a car for some days and show Vegard the island before he is flying back to Norway on Thursday (15 th.).
The Algarvecoast was very nice. Real summer down there with sea temperatures that made swimming a great joy! We had a nice time togethether with out two boys and Tone. They joined us in Lagos, and further on we visited Portimao, Albufeira and Faro. Check out the pictures! In the Norwegian letter I explained about an incident that gave us a big hole in my dad’s old rubber zodiac. Also the potential theft of Mette’s beloved bicycle. The next day I found the bike underneath the boat. Wreckless parking!! In spite of freshwater treatment and lots of anti-rust spray, the bearing in the rear wheel has developed an "unhealthy" noice. It will probably soon need replacement!
Finally, we would appreciate all kinds of comments on our homepage. Also if you have any questions, just ask. If you leave an e-mail address we can try to reply.
See you! Fatuhiva and crew.
